Overview

Adding your domain to Duo is a crucial step in ensuring that all referral emails sent from your store are delivered smoothly and branded properly. This guide will walk you through the steps to add and verify your domain within the Duo platform.

Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Your Domain

1. Access the Domain Settings

  • Log in to Duo in the Shopify Admin.

  • Navigate to the "email" section.

  • Select "Domain" from the tabs.

2. Enter your domain

  • Enter your chosen subdomain in the provided field.

  • Click “Add Domain” to proceed.

🚀 Recommendation: We recommend using a subdomain (e.g., referral.yourstore.com) rather than your apex domain (e.g., yourstore.com). Subdomains are easier to manage, less likely to interfere with your primary domain’s DNS settings, and provide better segmentation for different types of emails. This setup is particularly beneficial if you use other services that also require DNS records.

Why Adding Your Domain Matters

By adding your domain, you ensure that referral emails are sent from your store’s email address, which improves deliverability and maintains brand consistency. This not only helps in building trust with your customers but also reduces the chances of your emails being marked as spam.

Troubleshooting Domain Verification

  • Propagation Time: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. If Duo doesn’t verify immediately, wait a few hours and try again.

  • Check for Typos: Ensure that the DNS records are entered exactly as provided. Typos or incorrect entries can prevent verification.

  • Support: If you encounter issues, reach out to your DNS provider for assistance, or contact Duo’s support team for help.
